Kendrick Lamar Earns 4th No. 1 Debut With ‘Mr. Morale The Big Steppers’

The Compton rapper is at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending May 28. To Pimp A Butterfly was released in 2015, Untitled, Unmastered was released in 2016, and DAMN was released in 2017.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers gained 295,500 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending May 19, according to Billboard, making it the most important week for any project this year. This surpasses Bad Bunny's accomplishment of 274,000 for his album Un Verano Sun Ti last week, and Fututue's achievement of I Never Liked You the week before.
Kendrick Lamar got 295,500 album units, of which 258,500 are streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, equating to 343.02 million on-demand official streams of the set's 18 tracks. The final results include 35,500 album sales and 1,500 track equivalent album (TEA) units. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers have had the best week in terms of equivalent album units since Adele's 30 in November 2021, as well as the best streaming week for an R&B/hip-hop album in 2022.
The 35,500 copies sold by the Grammy Award-winning rapper are all digital copies, as the physical album will not be released until May 27.
