Berklee College of Music is a Boston, Massachusetts-based private music school. It is the world's largest independent contemporary music college. It is well-known for its jazz and modern American music studies, but it also offers college-level courses in a variety of contemporary and historic styles, such as rock, hip hop, reggae, salsa, heavy metal, and bluegrass. The acceptance rate for Berklee College of Music Boston was 33.8 per cent for the 2017–2018 school year, 38 per cent for the Boston Conservatory, and 66 per cent for Berklee Online.
Berklee's acceptance rates ranged from 28 to 36 per cent from 2014 to 2017. Admissions updated its application reporting in the fall of 2018 to include only paid applications. Totals from previous years include all incomplete applications, regardless of status or payment.
Berklee offers three terms for full-time students: the traditional fall semester, spring semester, and summer semester. Unlike other colleges, entering students have the option of choosing their own semester.

Berlee Online degree programs

Electronic Music Production and Sound Design, Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games, and Interdisciplinary Music Studies, a major that allows students to create their own program based on their musical interests and goals, were added to Berklee Online's Bachelor of Professional Studies program in November 2014.
Since then, the college has continued to add to its list of online bachelor's degree majors, including Guitar, Songwriting, and Songwriting and Producing Music. The college is the first nonprofit music school to offer regionally accredited bachelor's degrees online, according to reports.
