Joey Bada$$ Announces New ‘2000’ Album, His First In Five Years
Joey Bada$$ is about to return to the music scene in full force, as the rapper has revealed that his second album, 2000, will be released on June 17. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the publication of his breakout mixtape, 1999, as well as the release of the Brooklynite's first album in more than five years.
Joey disclosed the album title and release date in a social media post, along with an accompanying teaser for the project, which features a preview of a previously unheard song from the rapper. "I'm back on set like I've never left... He wrote, "#2000 #newalbum #june17th."
While few details about what to expect from 2000 have been published, Joey has revealed some details about the album, including a tentative production roster that features 1999 colleague Statik Selektah, Mike Will Made-It, Cardo, and Kirk Knight.
Joey has also hinted a collaboration with DJ Premier, which fans are very excited about. Along with the announcement of 2000's impending arrival, the rapper also announced that he will embark on a summer tour, which will begin on July 1 in Boston and conclude on July 28 in Los Angeles.
Joey's most recent single, "Head High," was released in March, and he described it as "one of my favorite songs I've ever made," inspired in part by late rap sensation Nipsey Hussle.
